Jess here!

When it comes to posting on Instagram, the aim is the increase your reach and interaction. Getting people seeing your posts means you are more likely to build relationships and gain potential customers or clients. One way to increase your visibility on Instagram is by using hashtags on your posts. You can use up to 30 hashtags per post, which means there are 30 additional ways that you can get your posts seen. However, when it comes to hashtags – how do you know which ones to use? Which hashtags are going to give you the best return? Using a hashtag finder such as tailwind can help you to find the best hashtags for your posts.

What is a hashtag?

Hashtags are a way to search for different things on Instagram. By adding these hashtags to your posts, people are able to search and find your details. When adding a hashtag to your post it is simply the # symbol followed by the word that you would like people to use to search for you.

Why should I use a hashtag finder?

Using a hashtag finder can help you to find the best hashtags to use on your posts. If you are just throwing your own hashtags into the post, you have no idea if they are working for you or if they are things that people will be searching. The hashtag finder can help to give you the best hashtags to use, the ones that are popular and that people will be looking out for.

If it important to try and change your hashtags up and not use the exact same ones in every post. This means that you actually need more than 30 hashtags at your disposal. If you are doing the research manually, this can take quite a bit of time to do. By using a finder, it cuts down your research time and leaves you with the best performing hashtags without having to do a lot of work to find them.

How do I choose which hashtag finder to use?

There are a couple of different programs available that can help you with your hashtag research. Before going out and paying for the first one you see, or using the top free one – it is important to do your research on the program. That’s right, you still need to do some work.

When looking for which program to use, look at the features that it has and whether or not it is going to be beneficial for you and your business. An ideal program will hold features such as:

  • Quickly and efficiently find hashtags
  • The ability to run analytic reports on the hashtags and their performance
  •  A place where you can store your hashtags easily, ready for use

Why do I recommend Tailwind?

Tailwind’s hashtag finder, which is a part of their Instagram scheduler, in my opinion is one of the best resources that you can have. It is an easy to use tool that boasts the above results of being able to run analytics on the hashtags and provides you with quick results.

Within the tool, the hashtags that are recommended to you for use are colour coded based on their competitiveness. There are four colours that they are broken up into. This helps you to know which ones are performing the best and are most competitive across Instagram.

By using a mix of hashtags from the four different groups, it gives you the best chance at getting your posts seen.

Tailwind recently did research into the percentage of each hashtag category that you should have in your posts. It is broken up into:

  • 20% competitive hashtags
  • 10% niche hashtags
  • 70% good & best hashtags

Tailwind will also show you how many images are already being used with the different hashtags, to help give you an idea into how popular they are.

Another great feature of Tailwind hashtag finder is that it automatically updates the suggested hashtags based on the caption that is written to go with the image.

Tailwind hashtag finder has been a game changer for me. It has opened my eyes up to the world of hashtags and is helping me to grow my Instagram interaction, reach and following.

So rather than just throwing a few random hashtags up, use a hashtag finder such as Tailwind and take it to the next level.
