On a daily basis I am contactable on many different platforms and streams such as phone, email, Facebook, Pinterest, snap chat, Facebook messenger, Instagram, not mention my business accounts and full-time work. I’m exhausted just explaining it to you.
I love my google calendar! Honestly it saves my behind on a daily basis and my partner and I share events to each other to know what is going on in our family and maintain appointments.
Recently my baby brain has taken over and even though my electronic diary was up to date, I was forgetting the really important daily errands that just pop up. I would either end up with 7 different notes in my iPhone that I didn’t look at again after I wrote it or a million pieces of paper in my hand bag that just cluttered my space and I was just not function to the standard I needed to be. Sound like you? Well keep reading and you will have my solution to life’s forgetfulness!
A trip to the stationery shop was my Sunday outing, which along with ikea, this is my guilty pleasure! I bought myself a very girly and fab diary for 2018 – full page for each day. I was so excited to get home and put all the puzzle pieces together.

My Top tips for diary management:
1. Rescheduling events in google- all our bills are set up in our calendars as reoccurring reminders such as rent, electricity, dog groomers, bin collection as the timings are set and this just keeps us accountable.
NB** if you receive bills digitally and your bank is compatible, it can automatically schedule for payment prior to the due date.
2. Nothing is too small for your diary – it drives my partner crazy but I put everything in there. Nothing is too small. Coffee dates, shopping lists, “can you remind me later to…”. It’s all in there!
3. You must set reminders for google calendar- I can see your face, really?
“But my phone will go bananas, Jess!” I can’t even disagree with that. Yes, yes it will. Find a balance to what suits you. I have a reminder as I need it, but it won’t work for everyone. I find it very helpful for my daily reports, again with the bin collection.
4. Follow up – if you miss something reschedule but don’t forget to update it!

5. Review & Reflect – Each morning I review my day in my google calendar and my to do list in my diary. I find I am accountable when I write things down. However be sure not to overwhelm yourself. If you know you have a day of back to back meetings and appointments, make sure you prioritise and reschedule your things to do! Currently I am recording my daily productivity – work – tasks vs completed. This is to ensure my time is being used to the full potential.
6. Give yourself a big Tick – tick it off your list. This will provide you with a sense of accomplishment and it will motivate you to keep going. Some days you are swamped with things to do, usually close to pay day to manage the finances and other days there are minute tasks that are easily completed.
7. Once the Day is done, I fold over the top corner to half way down the page and alternate top corner and bottom corner. This ensures you know where you are up to.
